With the sudden rise in popularity of lash extensions, more women are now enticed to try it out for themselves. Salons and lash studios have started popping up and chances are, there’s probably at least one or two salons in your city that offer lash extension services. But how can you be sure that these salons/lash studios offer good quality lash extensions? Well here are some signs you can check to tell if the lash extensions services you’re about to avail are worth it or not.
The quality of the adhesive
This is probably one of the most important things you need to look out for when availing a lash extension service. After all, the adhesive will be the binder between the lash extensions and your natural lashes. Good-quality adhesive won’t only make your lash extensions feel more comfortable and light but it can also help in keeping your lash extensions last longer.
It can also be quite dangerous and uncomfortable for your eyes if your lash artist applies too much adhesive. Your lashes may end up clumping together, which can be pretty painful to deal with, not to mention, it can also serve as a breeding ground for bacteria and other nasty organisms out there.
The direction of your lashes
You can tell if someone has good quality lash extensions when their lashes are pointing up and away from the face. With bad quality lash extensions, they tend to clump together and get tangled up which can cause permanent damage to your natural lashes. This happens when your lash extensions are heavier than normal.
Are they properly isolated?
One thing you have to worry about when getting lash extensions is clumpiness. Having clumpy lashes can lead to hair fall which can make your natural lashes thinner. To avoid this from happening, your eyelashes need to be properly isolated from each other. If an extension is attached to the one next to it, or if a huge clump is stuck together, it can be extremely uncomfortable and painful for the client.
There are cases where your lashes may seem okay the first few days after the procedure, but as your natural lashes grow, there is a possibility of the strands clumping together when your lash technician was unable to properly isolate your lashes.
Thickness and length
Although the intended purpose of getting eyelash extensions is to provide fuller and more dramatic-looking lashes, you also have to mind the thickness and the length of it. Your lash extensions should never be more than 2x thicker than your natural lashes. The average lash thickness is called .15 (point one five) for classic or 1-to-1 lash application and .07 (point zero seven) for volume lash application. While the recommended maximum length of lash extensions should only be around 3mm longer than the natural lash length.
These are the recommended standards for thickness and length in order to make the client’s lashes look more natural and light.
It’s also important to always remember that your lashes should never feel irritated, uncomfortable, and painful. So be careful in choosing your lash artist, do your research in order to keep your lashes looking fabulous and great, and also to avoid any complications.
