Tips On Taking Care of Your Lashes During Winter

Going out during the winter season with your friends and family may sound fun and exciting. It’s the perfect time for ski trips and ice skating. It’s also the perfect weather to go out and get hot coffee and hang out with your buddies while watching the snowfall. To some people, glamming themselves up during the winter season is a necessity. It’s understandable that you would want to look as pretty as the weather.

But the weather can get a bit harsh during winter as well. Your face will be exposed to the harsh elements which aren’t exactly good for your face and even your lashes! Here are some friendly tips you can follow during your winter trip or activities that can keep your lashes looking on fleek and healthy.

Clean and Moisturize your Lashes Every day

Sure, a day full of activities can be quite exhausting. It can be tempting to just quickly wash your face and skip your nightly cleansing routine. But sleeping in while your mascara is still on can be harmful to your lashes. It can irritate your eyes and could also cause your lashes to shed faster.

When your traveling, make sure you have a makeup remover packed with your items. Thoroughly remove and cleanse remaining make-up on your face, including your lashes. Cleansing your lashes is vital especially if you’ve been wearing extensions all day, you wouldn’t want any remaining adhesive glue on your eyes when you sleep!

Don’t forget to use your eyelash serum as well to keep your lashes moisturized and looking luscious when you wake up in the morning.

Do Not Use Oil Based Makeup

Social activities are an inevitable part of the winter season. Whether you have plans prepared with your family or with your friends, we understand that you’d want to look your best with the help of makeup. But did you know that using oil-based makeup can actually be quite a hassle for your lashes?

Using oil-based makeup can actually make applying fake lashes harder as the oil can make the adhesive less effective. It’s also not ideal for people with lash extensions to use oil-based eye makeup. Not only that but cream-based eyeliners and waterproof mascaras are difficult to remove. It’s better to use products like liquid eyeliner and eyelash extension-safe mascara instead.

Clean Your Lashes After Going into a Sauna, Hot Tub, or Steam Room

Winter season is the perfect time to go to a sauna, a hot tub, or a steam room to relax alone or with your friends. But it’s important to remember that using public Saunas, hot tubs, or steam rooms may potentially expose you to germs, bacteria, and other pollutants that can irritate and harm your skin and your lashes too! Make sure you’re able to clean your face and your lashes properly after going to one.

Be Careful With your Protective Eye Gear

During the winter season, it’s quite common to see people wearing glasses or goggle to protect their eyes from the snow. Make sure that your chosen protective eye gear isn’t too tight. It’s recommended that you use something with a larger frame and with a more spherical lens shape. That way, you can avoid the glass from sticking too close to your eyes, possibly damaging your lashes in the process as well.

Don’t Skip On Your Vitamins

Consistently drinking Silica every day can actually help improve the condition of your lashes and can keep them looking healthy and thick. Silica is a well-known “beauty” mineral that can enhance the condition of your hair, bones, teeth, and nails.

Vitamin C is another great vitamin you can take every day. It’s known to be a powerful antioxidant that can boost your immune system and can help you maintain a healthy body by protecting you from diseases.
