You’re probably reading this because you want to know whether getting eyelash extensions may be the right choice for you or not. Thinking about getting eyelash extensions and how it can make your eyes pop and make you look more awake can feel quite exciting. The changes that eyelash extensions can do on your face is amazing if it’s done right. But some people just aren’t so lucky.
You might think some of the eyelash extension horror stories you’ve read online are exaggerated and just aren’t true, and although some of them may seem too sensationalized, there is still some truth to them.
Here are a few eyelash extension horror stories that clients would never want
A beauty vlogger on youtube named Alexandra Irene recorded her whole experience at the lash salon. She found an excellent deal on Groupon and was more than happy to try it out herself. But what seemed to be initially a good deal, turned out to be a nightmare in disguise.
It was her first time getting eyelash extensions and although nothing went wrong during the process, it was afterward that she started feeling strange. Her eyes felt painful and the itchiness began. Soon, both her eyes and the skin around it gradually turned pink. She knew right away that it must have been caused by her lash extensions.
She immediately removed it with a cotton swab drenched in olive oil, then went to a nearby clinic. The doctor told her that she contracted conjunctivitis, most commonly known as pink eye. Her eyes started going back to normal after three days of consistently using her prescribed eye drops.
Goodbye natural lashes
Another beauty vlogger fell victim to botched eyelash extension jobs, but this time, it was her natural lashes that were affected. A beauty vlogger that goes by the name Filo has been a lash extension regular, she had her lashes done for several months and have never really experienced any issues with it.
It was only a few months later that she started to notice something horrifying. Although it was natural for lash extensions to shed and fall out on their own, your natural lashes should still be there. What happened to Filo is every client’s nightmare. Her eyes began to swell and her natural lashes started to gradually fall out until there was barely anything left. She shared in her vlog how her natural eyelashes are now super short and “look awful” to her.
Although some clients would get eyelash extensions for the sake of having dramatic lashes with minimal effort, some clients just don’t seem quite satisfied with just eyelash extensions alone. Another youtube beauty vlogger named Madison Ashleigh just wanted to look extra fabulous by applying false lashes on top of her eyelash extensions, she did not expect the disastrous results it entailed after applying her falsies.
The glue from false lashes caused her lashes to stick together. And even worse, her eyes felt like they were burning up. She started to panic and attempted to remove her falsies with the help of eyelash remover (it burned), corn oil, vaseline but it just didn’t work. She even attempted to steam her face to loosen up the glue. After running out of options, she decided to just rip them out, which wasn’t exactly the best idea.
This experience caused her immense pain but it also gave her a valuable lesson. No need to be greedy, avoid sticking false lashes on top of your lash extensions to prevent such a traumatizing event from happening
